Canvas Production

Image preparation

Your photo/gallery choice is carefully prepared using Adobe Photoshop to your specific order. This is where any special effects or resizing will be applied.

If your order is from our 'photos to canvas' section, you will be sent a free proof via email to show how your canvas will look. This ensures that there are no surprises when you receive your canvas as production will only begin once we have your approval.

Printing

Your photo/gallery choice is then printed using our Large Format Epson Stylus Pro 9800 which uses the latest UltraChrome K3 inks which have been guaranteed not to fade for 75 years for colour prints and 100 years for black and white.

Protective Coating

Your printed canvas is then treated with Glamour II Museum Grade Giclée Varnish. This is available in Matte or Gloss and your choice will be taken when placing your order.

Apart from enhancing the colours it will also protect your new canvas against moisture and abrasion.

Canvas Detail

This shows a close up view of the canvas, we use 'Brilliance™ Chromata White' which Meets the Archival Standards set forth by Fine Art Trade Guild for
pH and lightfastness. It is a textured 20.5 mil Bright White Canvas, with a consistent Poly Cotton Blend using an acid-free, neutral pH coating. Unlike 99.9% of inkjet canvas products available on the market today, this Giclée canvas utilizes the "Chromata White" optical brightener additive-free and Fluorescent Whitening agent-free breakthrough technology.

Frame Depth

Made from winter-cut, finger jointed and laminated Baltic pine. This gives an advantage of removing all knots and making the timber very strong and very straight.

When ordering you will be asked to choose your frame depth, either 28mm (top image) or more contemporary 40mm (bottom image). We make the frames ourselves and as you can see from the image on the right we actually use the same wood for both depths, it is simply turned around 90 degrees. Most of our competitors will charge extra for a deeper frame, by using this system it means that should you choose a deeper frame, there are no additional costs.

Finished Frame

The image to the right shows a finished 30cm x 22.5cm frame that has a depth of 28mm. We don't use pre-made frames, each frame is made specifically for each order so ANY size is possible.

You will notice that our frames do not use wedges. The majority of our competition will tell you that wedges are essential to keep your canvas taught. This is certainly true if you use a cheap canvas and framed on wood that can move! We use the best materials and wedges are not needed.

Stretched

Your canvas is then stretched over the frame and the corners are neatly folded.

Final Stage

We now fit all our framed canvases with a CWH hanger. These have been designed so that your canvas sits flat to the wall.
